The chairman of the grand durbar was the royal chief of anyan kokobin, Nana Adu Ansah VII . The occasion, which focused on raising funds for the enlargement of the OPD and the laboratory of the clinic.
Nana Adu Ansah VII, addressed the audience for a moment and reminisced on how he contributed to the building of the polyclinic as a child. According to him, he was part of the students who fetched sand and stones for the construction of the clinic. He is very happy to be part of its golden jubilee, which also happens to be his birthday.
Dr. Matina Awo Basiwaa Johnson ,the current director of the clinic, gave a welcome speech and stated the reason for the durbar is to achieve comprehensive health care. She listed the activities that happened over the week, from health walks to blood donations, health screening, and crowned it with the durbar today.

A brief history of Bawjiase polyclinic was given. Bawjiase, which is one of the four main towns that constitute the Awutu Senya West district got its polyclinic 50 years ago with the help of the then member of parliament, Hon. Haruna Esiaku, and the traditional leaders . They came together to build the polyclinic in 1972 to offer health services to the township and its neighbouring communities. This came up with bangalos for the staff and the physician assistant.

Hon. Gizella Akushika Tetteh-Agbotui gave her speech, which came with the knowledge that the problems of the hospital were three: to complete an ongoing building; expand the laboratory, and expand the OPD. She sincerely acknowledges the corporate social responsibility act of MTN Ghana, which has taken it upon themselves to finish the building for the clinic, hence the current worry will be the expansion. She pledged to give her support in any way she could to the development of the clinic and the constituency at large. She pleaded with the nurses and staff in the polyclinic to work with smiles and patience.

The programme led to the honouring of old staff, current staff, and natives who have contributed a lot to the development of the hospital with citations. Coupled with fund raising, Mama Tina Dodd offered 3000 cedi’s to support the project; the member of parliament offered 5000 cedi’s, and the former DCE offered 500 cedi’s with one trip of stones and sand, respectively. Many were the contributions made at the event, which helped the clinic to attain 20,157 with many pledges as well.

The former DCE of the constituency made some observations that people were encroaching on the hospital lands, hence pledged to give 50 mango seedlings to be used in fencing the hospital to stop encroachment.

The Muslim leaders and community members present at the event gave a closing prayer to end the event. It was a successful event that will be remembered.
