Member of Parliament for Atiwa East Constituency, Abena Osei Asare in a response to claims by Ranking Member on Finance Committee, Dr. Ato Forson during the budget debate has stated that the 2021 budget statement is accurate and not ‘misreported’.
In her argument debunking claims made by NDC’s Dr. Ato Forson, she said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would not have quickly and easily helped Ghana with US$1 billion during the coronavirus pandemic if the Akufo Addo Government had misreported Ghana’s economic situation.

She further encouraged members of the house to support the new levies outlined in the 2021 Budget Statement such as the COVID-19 tax, NHIS tax, Petroleum tax, Sanitation tax as this will ensure the growth and development of the Country.

Members of Parliament of Ghana on 16th March 2020 started a financial and economic policy debate to assess the efficacy and efficiency of the 2021 Budget Statement presented to parliament last Friday by the Minister in charge of Finance, Osei Kyei Mensa-Bonsu.
