A preliminary investigation conducted into the allegations and admissions of the commission of bribery and related offences by Airbus SE against Samuel Adam Mahama and his Government Official 1 believed to be former President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that indeed crimes were committed against Ghana, the Office of the Special Prosecutor has stated.

Detailing the addresses of Samuel Mahama and his accomplice, Philip Sean Middlemiss, the Office of the Special Prosecutor has extended invitations to the duo to come and respond to allegations Airbus SE levelled against them and the Government Official 1 who the aerospace manufacturing giant said influenced the purchasing agreement between Ghana and the company.

The report, as captured by the Office of the Special Prosecutor also revealed that a 2018 passport acquired by Samuel Mahama in Ghana had his brother, John Dramani Mahama as his first guarantor.

It would be recalled that when three courts in the United Kingdom, the United States and France made judgments which indicted Airbus SE for paying bribes to powerful and influential officials in order to get contracts, a link was made to Mahama as being the Government Official 1 mentioned in the courts’ reports, elements within the opposition National Democratic Congress swiftly denied the assertion, saying the said Samuel Mahama was not related to Mahama and that if he even was, it didn’t prove the point that Mahama was indeed the Government Official 1 mentioned in the documents.

The details of former President Mahama being the one who acted as a guarantor to Samuel Foster Mahama leaves no doubts in the minds of Ghanaians that the Intermediary 5 and Government Official 1 are no other persons than Samuel Mahama and John Mahama respectively.

The COVID-19 pandemic might have dominated media headlines, the Special Prosecutor, by every stretch of the imagination, is not sitting on the fence as he fires the first shot of going all out to unravel the mystery behind those who perpetrated that criminal act against the people of Ghana.
