The ECG Power Queens Club, an association of female workers of the power distribution company, has extended support to about 1,500 victims of the flood caused by the Spillage of the Akosombo Dam.

The National President, Queen Doreen Gyabi led the national executives to present relief items worth GH₵‎65,000 to victims at safe havens at the Fodzoku and Dorfor Adidome Basic Schools in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region.

The ECG Power Queens Club, an association of female workers of the power distribution company that promotes gender inclusion and addresses social injustice, presented 2,100 bags of sachet water, baby diapers, sanitary pads, 4 bags of gari, 3 bags of corn dough, 5 bags of beans, and Kivo Pepper.

Others included 8 bags of Akple Powder, 2 bags of salt, 2 bags of cassava dough, yam, 3 boxes of canned tomatoes, 3 bags of kokonte powder, fish, 50 mattresses, toiletries, mosquito nets, and 2 bags of Tom Brown.

The National ECG Power Queens Club President, Queen Doreen Gyabi, said the donation formed part of the club’s programmes geared towards improving the welfare of the underprivileged.

“When we heard and even saw the ravaging effects of the Akosombo Dam spillage on livelihoods and properties, we were very sad and today we are here to empathize with all of you and assure you that we stand with you”, she said.

She added that “These items cannot be compared to what all of you have lost but we hope it goes a long way to make an impact and that God continue to watch over you and replenish everything you lost”.

Mrs Gyabi further indicated that ECG as a company is committed to delivering quality, reliable, and safe electricity services to support the socioeconomic growth of the country.

“Improving the livelihoods of our cherished customers through stable power supply or any other means of support is part of our operations, hence this kind gesture of our club to alleviate the plight of our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers and children”, she said.

Mrs. Gyabi advised the general public to take advantage of the company’s ongoing revenue mobilization exercise dubbed “Operation Fix the Bill/Pay the Bill” to correct all anomalies and also pay their bills through the ECG PowerApp or shortcode *226#.

This she said would enable the company to generate enough revenue to sustain the electricity supply chain.

“I would like to use this opportunity to call on other organisations to emulate this humanitarian act by the ECG Power Queens Club to ensure all affected communities receive help and not only Mepe since there are 15 safe havens and 69 affected communities within the North Tongu District”, he said.

The chiefs and elders of Fodzoku and Dorfor Adidome expressed their profound gratitude to the ECG Power Queens Club.
