Probe Into BOST Office-Minority In Parliament

The minority in parliament led by Hon John Jinapor in a short video made it known that there has been illicit activity occurring at the bulk oil storage and transport company (BOST), which demands probing. He stated that these suspicious activities have been happening for over a year now and the worst one to trigger their wrath is the inflation of the cost of a twin-tower office complex for the Bulk Oil and Transportation Company(BOST).

He stated that Mr. Awuah was building this complex with a budget of US$ 39 million, which was accused by the current government of being expensive, leading to an investigation into this same issue until his name was cleared.

Addressing the media in Parliament on the 28th of July,2022, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, MP for Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency and Ranking Member, Mines and Energy Committee, alleges that a contract sum for the construction of a single unit tower estimated at US$ 39 million has been inflated and approved by the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) at US$78 million, indicating a 100 percent inflated price.

He added that construction of the office complex, which started in 2015 under former CEO Awuah Darko at a cost of 39 million dollars, is said to have been inflated to a whopping 78 million dollars without due recourse to PPA approval. He alleged that a document with an amount of 24 million dollars was sent to PPA to be approved and the approval came with an amount of 39 million dollars instead.

Hon. John Jinapor again stated that what is more shocking to the minority is the fact that the total amount of US$78 million could get BOST a twin-unit tower as initially agreed under the contract. He went ahead to urge the government to investigate this corrupt activity that transpired and bring the perpetrators to face the law.
