President Nana Akufo-Addo has announced the increment of new Cocoa producer price by 28% to ¢10,560 per metric ton starting from October 1, this year.
The president stated that,” the increase in the price of cocoa is not to attract votes as its being propagated, but instead to compensate the farmers for their good work”.
In an interview on Hello Fm in Kumasi, he explained that “the increase is a strategic partnership between the President of Ivory Coast, as the same announcement on the increment was made in the Cote D’Ivoire”.

He also said the country is looking forward to tapping into a huge market like India, Asia, among others.
However, the government has rehabilitated the cocoa processing Company(CPC) and are working to get people to patronize the chocolate more.
