The Media Relations Officer for National Identification Authority (NIA) Henry Myers – Aboagye has stated that the Ghana Card is free and citizens do not need to pay for the registration process.
Speaking on Homebase TV morning show ‘HB Morning’ on October 19, 2021, Mr Myers-Aboagye said the Ghana Card is free but if an individual wants a premium service a fee of Gh₵250 is charged at the Head office only.
He said foreigners will have to pay an amount of $120 to have the Non-Ghanaian ECOWAS card.
Explaining how the process works, Mr Myers-Aboagye said the rectification of misspelt names will also attract a fee of Gh₵30 and another Gh₵30 for replacing a missing card.
He also hinted that the NIA will be opening their district offices at the end of the month for easy accessibility for citizens who have already registered and yet to register.
