The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) is pleading with the government to review the 2020 WASSCE timetable in order to reduce the stress of students.
In a press release issued by the General Secretary, Divine Edem Kwadzideh stated that, ”
“NUGS is calling on the West African Examinations Council to review the 2020 WASSCE timetable to reduce the stress levels of students.”
This was in response to the inadequate time allocated for a break for writing two elective subjects; Financial Accounting and Principles of Cost Accounting. These electives are to be written on the same day, 5th September. According to NUGS, such a directive is against the think tank, African Education Watch.

NUGS stated that,
“such an arrangement which makes students sit for two major elective papers, for as long as almost seven hours, with only an hour’s break, is ‘strenuous’ and goes against ‘international standards of assessment at the secondary level”.

“The West African Examination Council should review the timetable by postponing one of the two papers to another day, so as to reduce the stress students are already facing in these extraordinary times.”
