Ranking Member on Finance Committee, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has described the 2021 Budget as a ‘Ko Fie Ko Wu’ budget during the financial and economic policy debate in Parliament yesterday.

The member of parliament for Ajumako-Enyan Constituency argued that Ghanaians are worried as the budget will only cripple and overburden them with many taxes such as NHIS tax, COVID-19 tax, Petroleum tax, and the rest.

He further described the Akufo Addo-led government as insensitive because it has added more taxes to the Informal Sector instead of supporting them. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson stated that the “Informal sector needs support not additional taxes and must not pay for Government’s mismanagement”

The 2021 Budget Debate started on 16th March 2021 and seeks to ensure that the contents of the budget are in the best interest of every Ghana and will help improve life before it will be approved by Parliament.
