Yah’Kwame Nii Ayi Amaa Blackwell, professionally known as “Yahu Blackwell,” has been appointed as the new Osu Noryaa Mantse, a divisional king, by HRM Norte Nii Nortey Owuo IV of the Osu Paramount Stool.
This historic appointment marks him as the first Osu chieftain from the 400-year West African diaspora.
As part of his responsibilities, Yahu Blackwell will directly collaborate with the Paramount Stool, overseeing the development of Osu and serving as a commander within the Osu Military “Asafo.”
Hailing from the Gadangme people, Yahu Blackwell’s lineage traces back to ancestors who were taken as slaves from the Gold Coast during the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Their slave owner, Robert Glenn Blackwell of Yorktown, Virginia, bestowed upon them the Blackwell name.
Plans are already underway for the redevelopment of Ghana, with the new chieftain collaborating with top architects in Dubai (UAE) to conceptualize futuristic cities and real estate structures. These initiatives aim to contribute to Ghana’s economic growth and generate substantial employment opportunities.
In addition to his role as a chieftain, Yahu Blackwell has secured two deals with gold mines in Cameroon and Ghana, reinforcing his stool with precious natural minerals.
Professionally, Yahu Blackwell brings a diverse skill set to his new role. Trained by Israeli special forces, he is a professional boxing champion with rankings from WBC, WBA, and WBO regional divisions. He is also a real estate developer and the owner of the new KO’ACH energy drink.
Furthermore, he boasts a portfolio of multi-franchise restaurants in the USA, including Ritas Italian Ice, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Jamba Juice, and Cinnabon.
The enstoolment of a chieftain from the diaspora aligns with Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo’s mission to reconnect the African diaspora with African soil, as reflected in the Year of Return initiative.
