Samuel Abu Jinapor, Member of Parliament for Damongo and Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, has reiterated his deep respect for the authority of the Yagbonwura, the Overlord of Gonjaland, amidst reports of his alleged ban from palaces within the traditional area.
In an interview with Damongo-based Spear FM, Jinapor addressed the issue unequivocally, “The Yagbonwura is traditionally my grandfather and overlord, and I will never do anything to undermine him.”
Emphasizing his reverence for the chieftaincy institution, Jinapor pledged to uphold the highest regard for all chiefs, particularly the Yagbonwura, who he holds in high esteem.
Jinapor attributed recent developments to miscommunication and unfortunate misunderstandings, expressing his commitment to restoring harmony between himself and the Jakpa Palace.
“I will take all necessary steps to normalize relations between myself and the Jakpa Palace, my ancestral home,” Jinapor affirmed.
He called for calm, peace, and unity in the Gonja Kingdom, specifically in Damongo, urging that development initiatives continue unabated alongside efforts to resolve any lingering disputes.
