Serene Insurance, a member of the First Sky Group Limited, has introduced a pioneering insurance policy designed to provide comprehensive coverage in case of death for the victims of flooding in the three Tongu Districts.

This new policy named the Group Personal Accident Policy offers a total benefit of ₵2.5 million, which seeks to ease the financial burden faced by flood victims in case of death following flooding as a result of the Akosombo Dam Spillage by the Volta River Authority.

Floods are an unfortunate reality for many residents in Ghana, especially during the rainy season. The devastation caused by flooding is a severe concern for both individuals and communities alike. Recognizing the urgency of addressing this issue, Serene Insurance has stepped forward to extend a helping hand, offering reassurance to the people of Ghana.

CEO of Serene Insurance, Mercy Naa Korshie Boampong, emphasised the company’s commitment to supporting the community during these critical moments.

“We are acutely aware of the devastating impact that flooding can have on individuals, families, and entire communities. As a responsible and caring insurance provider, we believe it is our duty to assist those who may lose their relatives through the flood.

“Our new flood insurance policy, with a total benefit of ₵2.5 million, is a testament to our dedication to helping families with the burden of having to foot the funeral bills of their relatives during death,” Ms Boampong said.

The flood insurance policy covers a wide range of scenarios related to flooding. It includes compensation for property damage, and loss of personal belongings, and most importantly, it provides a substantial benefit to the families of those who lose their lives due to flooding.

This groundbreaking policy is a beacon of hope for flood-affected individuals and communities, providing them with financial support when they need it the most.

Ms. Boampong further reassured the residents of Ghana by saying, “Our commitment to our fellow Ghanaians goes beyond just offering financial assistance.

“We are here to provide guidance and support throughout the claims process, ensuring that affected individuals can rebuild their lives and communities with peace of mind.”

The Group Chairman, Eric Seddy Kutortse said the initiative by Serene Insurance aligns with a broader movement in the insurance industry, which aims to create more inclusive and compassionate policies that cater to the unique needs of the communities they serve.

Eric Seddy Kutortse noted that Serene Insurance’s groundbreaking flood insurance policy, backed by First Sky Group Limited, represents a shining example of corporate responsibility and empathy.

He said, “It is a reassuring message to the residents of Ghana, promising support and assistance during challenging times, and by providing comprehensive coverage, Serene Insurance is not only protecting assets but also fostering resilience and solidarity within communities across the nation.”
