Sammy Gyamfi Defends Political Leaders Over Unfulfilled Manifesto Promises

The Communications Director for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has stated that the failure to fulfil all manifesto promises by a ruling political party does not necessarily make the party’s leaders liars.

Gyamfi argued that it is a common phenomenon worldwide for governments to fall short of fully implementing every promise made during campaigns, asserting that no political party achieves a 100% success rate with its manifesto pledges. He emphasized that this reality should not be equated to dishonesty or untruthfulness.

Speaking on Accra-based United Television, Gyamfi, who has frequently accused Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of being untruthful for not fulfilling all of his promises, clarified his stance on the issue. He argued that unfulfilled promises do not automatically label someone as a liar.

“You can pick any manifesto of any government and still find unfulfilled promises. That in itself does not mean someone is a liar or not truthful,” Gyamfi remarked. He further highlighted that this is a global trend, pointing to the unfulfilled promises by major political parties like the Democrats and Republicans in the United States as evidence of the broader phenomenon.

The NDC Communications Director’s comments came in response to questions regarding the party’s own unfulfilled promise to build a National Theatre in the Ashanti Region. Gyamfi reiterated that the inability to deliver on every manifesto promise should not be seen as a breach of truthfulness.
