The Western Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Nelson, has acknowledged the critical role that the Ghana Navy plays in protecting Ghana’s territorial waters as part of its traditional duties.

He said the role of the naval commands requires that they work hand in hand with the government to protect businesses and social activities connected to the sea and the country’s territorial waters.

The Minister was addressing the Western Naval Command in Sekondi as part of his familiarisation tour of the various security commands in the region on Tuesday, 18th February 2025.

According to Hon. Joseph Nelson, the economic survival of Ghanaians in the country hinges on proper security coordination and social protection, all being provided by the command in collaboration with the government.

The Minister, while commending the command, said other significant areas of security ought to be tackled and ought to be discussed behind closed doors. “There are some other areas to talk about beyond here,” he said.
