Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called upon traditional leaders nationwide to actively participate in shaping the country’s political landscape.

Addressing the Nungua Traditional Council in Accra, Dr Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO, emphasized the pivotal role of chiefs in the country’s development and advocated for their voices to be heard in political discourse.

“My campaign is distinct. I make it a point to visit every royal house to convey a singular message: support us, pray for us, guide us, counsel us, and provide direction,” Dr. Opoku Prempeh stated during the meeting.

He highlighted the historical significance of political involvement, “Have you noticed that politicians now advise you not to engage in politics? How did we achieve independence, if not through political action? I am not asking you to wear NPP or NDC colours.

I am asking you to exercise your right to voice what is right.”

Dr. Opoku Prempeh encouraged Nungua electorates to consider voting for the NPP and its presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming December elections.

“Whether NPP or NDC, it is your prerogative to guide us. We should not dictate to you; instead, we should listen to your aspirations,” he affirmed. “Nungua belongs to its people, and our mission is to ensure its development.”

The meeting with the Nungua Traditional Council marks NAPO’s ongoing efforts to foster dialogue and cooperation between traditional leadership and political governance in Ghana.
