Jefferson Kwamena Sackey, the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma Central Constituency, over the weekend hosted a meeting to share his vision for the constituency’s youth.
Mr Sackey’s plan focuses on Jobs and Youth Empowerment, Women Empowerment,
Health for All, Education Support, and Sports Development.
Key initiatives include:
Collaborating with institutions for skills training and job creation
Empowering women through the Jefferson Care Women Empowerment Fund
Ensuring accessible healthcare through the Jefferson Care Health for All Programme
Providing scholarships and learning materials through the Jefferson Care Education Support
Developing sports infrastructure, including the Mambrouk Astroturf
Education for a Brighter Future
Sackey’s Jefferson Care Education Support
Program has provided learning materials and scholarships to less privileged students.
He plans to expand this program, ensuring needy students receive necessary resources. Collaborating with stakeholders, Sackey aims to support schools with infrastructure, materials, and teacher training.
Empowering Youth through Job Creation
Sackey acknowledged unemployment as a significant challenge. He established Energy Radio 91.1 FM, employing local youth. To address unemployment, Sackey proposes:
Practical Skills Training_: data analytics, web development, digital marketing, and entrepreneurship
Youth Entrepreneurship_: startup support, mentoring, and access to capital
Job Creation_: lobbying for government opportunities and advocating for private sector employment
Sports Development
Sackey has provided sports equipment and jerseys, promoting community league tournaments. He has also initiated the conversion of Bamboo Park into a modern astroturf, showcasing football talents and connecting them to professional teams.
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister for Education delivering a remark as the special guest of honour seized the opportunity to highlight NPP’s achievements in Education and touted government’s significant accomplishments in education, including unprecedented reforms and investments.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to improving Ghana’s educational sector, citing initiatives such as the Free Senior High School policy and the construction of 35 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Senior High Schools.
Dr. Adutwum assured the gathering that the NPP government would continue to build on its achievements in education and beyond if re-elected. He emphasized the importance of supporting Sackey’s vision for the youth of Ablekuma Central Constituency ¹.
A Call to Action
Mr Sackey urged the youth to rally behind his vision and that of Alhaji Dr Mahamadu Bawumia. He believes Ablekuma Central Constituency will “turn blue” in the December 2024 elections, symbolizing a brighter future for the youth.
By prioritizing education, job creation, and empowerment, Mr Sackey aims to create a beacon of hope and opportunity for the next generation.
