The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold a decisive election to select its parliamentary candidate for Walewale in the 2024 general elections.
This election comes following a directive from the Tamale High Court for a rerun, necessitated by the annulment of the previous primary.
The contest features two candidates: Dr. Mahama Tia Kabiru and the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hajia Lariba Zuwera Abudu. Both were contenders in the annulled primaries and remain on the ballot for the rerun.
The election, originally scheduled for Sunday, September 8, 2024, has been rescheduled to Monday, September 9, 2024.
The postponement is due to the seven-day funeral rites of the late paramount chief of the Wungu traditional area, Nazori Alhaji Saaka Sulemana, which coincides with the initial date.
