The newly elected President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG), Michael Abbiw, has outlined an ambitious vision for the institute, with a strong focus on increasing membership and engagement as part of his Agenda 5/5 Initiative.

This initiative, which will serve as the guiding framework for his administration over the next three years, seeks to strengthen the institute’s appeal and elevate its status within the business community.

In an interview with JoyBusiness, Mr Abbiw stated that one of his key priorities is to create programs that will attract more professionals to join CIMG while ensuring that existing members remain actively engaged.

He noted that enhancing the learning environment, improving the institute’s public image, and increasing engagement with both the business community and policymakers will be central to achieving these goals.

“There are three key areas that will be our prime focus: improving the environment of learning, elevating our image, and increasing member engagement,” he stated.

He further highlighted that under his leadership, CIMG will work towards ensuring that marketing is recognized as a critical driver of national development and industrial growth.

Mr. Abbiw was elected as President of CIMG on February 13, 2025, taking over from Dr. Daniel Kasser Tee.

Alongside him, a new set of national executives were also elected, including Ama Gifty Amoah as National Vice-President, Edwin Letsa K. Kpedor as National Secretary, and Dr. Francis Mensah Sasraku as National Treasurer.

Additionally, Hilda Peasah, Norrender Wordie Debrah, and Kwasi Kyere have been elected as Council Members.

With over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing, Mr. Abbiw brings a wealth of expertise to his new role.

He is currently the Lead Consultant and CEO of MGA Consulting Limited, a leading sales and marketing consulting firm, and also serves as the Executive Director of Supreme Trust Brokers Limited.

He is a Marketing Lecturer at Methodist University and a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana and the National Institute of Marketing Nigeria.

His academic credentials include a double MPhil degree from Methodist University and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Business Administration.

Beyond academia and consulting, Mr Abbiw has contributed significantly to brand development and marketing strategy for various organisations, including Telecel Ghana and the Ghana Association of Savings and Loans Companies.

His leadership at CIMG is expected to bring fresh momentum to the institute’s growth and impact.

Looking ahead, Mr. Abbiw and his team are determined to position CIMG as a leading professional body that plays an integral role in shaping Ghana’s marketing landscape.

By the end of his tenure in 2028, he envisions a stronger, more influential CIMG that commands greater respect and recognition within the business and policymaking communities.
