Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reiterated her party’s commitment to establishing a state-of-the-art fertility centre if they secure victory in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Speaking to NDC supporters at Camp Junction in the Bia East Constituency during her three-day Western North Region campaign tour, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the financial burden that high treatment costs impose on families struggling with fertility issues.
She emphasized that the proposed centre would offer affordable services to those in need.
In addition to the fertility centre, she announced plans for a new 500-bed children’s hospital to enhance healthcare for the nation’s youth.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also addressed the importance of providing free sanitary pads to female students nationwide to ensure continued education.
She recalled that free, hygienic pads were provided during the NDC’s previous administration but were discontinued due to political opposition.
“When the NDC was in government, we ensured access to free sanitary pads for students. Unfortunately, our opponents politicized this initiative, resulting in its cessation, now affecting education for many girls,” she stated.
She assured supporters that access to sanitary products would not hinder female students’ education under the next NDC government.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged voters to rally behind John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming elections to reset the country, create jobs, and financially empower women by establishing a Women’s Development Bank.
