Professor Jean Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the Election 2024 Running Mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says an NDC government will prioritise and improve family welfare, if voted into political power in the December 7, polls.
Describing the family set up as the root of society, Prof Opoku-Agyemang said the NDC would implement a family welfare policy that would empower vulnerable families economically.
The implementation of the policy would further identify and tackle peculiar problems confronting families to build a better society for all.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang said this when she addressed a political rally at Ashiayam, near Techiman in the Bono East, as part of her campaign visit to the region.
She called on the electorate to vote for the NDC when they go to the polls.
She said the NDC is very sensitive to the plights of the people and promised to ensure that the development needs of the local communities were tackled if the party won the General Election.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang also highlighted the NDC’s touted 24-hour economy, saying everything was set for the implementation of the policy that would create more jobs for the people.
She said women played an integral role in the family setup and a national asset, hence the need for establishment of the “Women’s Bank” to provide financial assistance to women traders and entrepreneurs to build their businesses to position them well to support the upkeep of their families and also contribute meaningfully to national development.
“Voting for the NDC is therefore a good investment,” she stated, and expressed the hope that the electorate would not disappoint the NDC on Election Day.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang later paid a courtesy and interacted with Nana Kwasi Twum Brempong III, the Chief of Mesidan in the Techiman North District.
Nana Brempong III called on the NDC to also prioritise the development of the area, if the party wins the General Election, saying the area had several challenges including poor roads, inadequate classroom blocks, lack of health facility and a market.
