The smiles say it all; these beautiful women enjoyed every bit of the experience!
The story of mothers have been told from different perspective. The mother, has been a major catalyst in the household, in nurturing and holding the family together. Celebrating mothers, has in recent times showed the need to appreciate mothers by economically empowering women. Studies have shown that in strong economic positions, mothers positively impact the wellbeing of their children and the family as a whole.
Mothers continue to play important roles such as conception, to gestation, to labor, to nursing and feeding, to socializing, to comforting and disciplining. In many cases, these mothers have to combine their parenting role with their career.
One author rightly articulates mothers’ busy lives. She said, “a mother continues to labor long after the baby is born”. It is in recognition and appreciation of this unparalleled commitment that people all over the world celebrate Mothers’ Day. Sunday, the 14th of May, was no exception. Social media was aglow with tons of appreciation for mothers.
This year, Access Bank added a new twist to its long standing and unwavering commitment to mothers and women. To show appreciation for the hard work and commitment of mothers, the bank partnered with Nana Tea to give three (3) women a good treat.
Nana Tea, one of Ghana’s popular social media influencers and philanthropist has a unique way of touching lives. He randomly picks people on the street (usually vendors), pays their sales for the day, and gives them a full day’s treat. The selected mothers were petty traders engaged in the sale of coconut, sachet water and organic food products, who ply their trade between the Dzorwulu and GIPMA stretch.
The Mother’s Day treat was packed! The women were first awed with a full spa treatment and make-over. A mothers’ day treat wouldn’t be complete without time out and good food. The Peduase Valley Resort was the next destination, where the selected mothers were feasted with a lunch buffet as well as a walk in the zoo. The treat didn’t end there. From the lunch buffet, the women visited Silverbird Cinemas to enjoy a movie experience for the first time ever in a cinema. The joy expressed by these women revealed nothing but excitement and appreciation. One of the beneficiaries exclaimed that she never expected so much pampering.
The icing on the cake was the economic empowerment injection. Each woman received an amount of money to boost their capital and to enable them to support their families better.
Other exciting activities to mark the 2023 Mother’s Day celebrations included a two-pronged webinar on the themes, Navigating Motherhood; The Sacrifice, Balance, and Joy and the second, Marriage and the law; what women need to know. The seasoned professionals from the fields of health, law, and business intrigued participants with in-depth knowledge on women’s health and the law with respect to marriage, divorce, and separation.
