The Enchi District Magistrate Court has fined a 20-year-old mechanic GH¢6,000 for stealing assorted items and a cash sum of GH¢3,000 belonging to a Physician Assistant (PA).

Felix Oppong Nyameah, popularly known as ‘One Girl’ pleaded guilty to unlawful entry and stealing, and in default of the fine would serve 12 months in prison on each count.

The sentences are to run consecutively.

In addition, the court presided over by Mr Lawrence Buanor-Buer, ordered Nyameah to pay a compensation of Gh¢20,000 to the complainant.

Prosecuting, General Sergeant Stephen Offei Asante, informed the court that, the complainant, was a PA at the Enchi Government Hospital, and resided at the residential quarters of the facility.

However, Nyameah was a resident of Begyeahaso, a suburb of Enchi in the Municipality of the Western North Region.

He said on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, the complainant was in his house when he received a distress call to attend to a patient in the hospital, so he hurriedly left without locking the door.

He said the complainant returned after some hours and noticed his iPhone S, Acer Laptop, perfume, official stamp, a pair of ball boots, BNF, Samsung Galaxy 57, wristwatch, two hotspot containers, hospital equipment and cash of GH¢3,000 had been stolen from his room.

Prosecution said on February 9, this year, the complainant had a tip-off from a witness that, Nyameah gave her a mobile phone and directed her to put it on charge for him, but when she switched on the phone, she saw the complainant’s picture on the phone as a screen saver.

He said the complainant reported the case to the police in Enchi and Nyameah was subsequently grabbed when he went back for the mobile phone.

The court heard that when the police searched Nyameah’s room, they found an official stamp of the Enchi Government hospital bearing the name of the complainant, perfume, a wristwatch, and a bag containing hospital equipment.

The prosecution said the complainant identified all the items as his and the duty bearers retrieved them to back their investigations.

Nyameah admitted the offence in his caution statement and was subsequently charged and arraigned before the court after investigations.
