Ten (10) poets from across the African continent will converge in Ghana for a week-long celebration of African literature, culture, and diversity.
The programme dubbed the All African Women Poetry Festival is organised by Tuniq Africa Ltd., sponsored by the KGL Foundation and Outre.
The festival is scheduled to take place from 25th May to 28th May, 2023 at the Art Africa Gallery, the British Council as well as the Dikan Center, in Accra-Ghana.
It aims to provide a platform for woman poets to share their work, while connecting with other Poets and engaging with audiences from different parts of the world.
Additionally, the festival will feature an exciting lineup of events, including poetry readings, panel discussions, workshops, and performances by both renowned and budding African Poets.
According to the founder of Tuniq Africa, Emma Ofosua, “the All African Women Poetry Festival is an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of African women and to provide a platform for them to showcase their literary skills, [thus] opening up the opportunity for dialogue, while we work towards rewriting the African narrative we aspire to, defining for ourselves who we are and [whom we] desire to be as a people.
We believe that this festival will not only showcase the talent and creativity of African women, but that it will also inspire a new generation of Poets to take up Art for a cause that interrogates social, mental and women’s health issues.”
The festival is proudly supported by the Poetry Association of Ghana, IncredibleK Gh, National theatre, Unesco, Writers Project of Ghana, Dansworld, Kaya tours, Creative spills, Iglow, ATL, Think Aloud Ltd, Comme lab, AfroEle, Wear Ghana, Olaf, She Panthers, Jo’s Keepsakes, , Kasapreko, Gerard Nartey Photography, Citi FM/ Citi TV , Joy FM/Joy Prime, and Danone.
According to the organisers, the festival is open to all and promises to be an inspiring and engaging event for all poetry lovers.
