The Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has criticised the Electoral Commission (EC) for rescheduling local assembly elections in some areas on the day of the polls.
Dr Boamah is thus asking the electoral management body to avoid repeating such actions during the 2024 elections, emphasising that the stakes would be high in the upcoming national exercise.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Dr Boamah stated, “The Electoral Commission of Ghana must learn lessons from this avoidable and unpardonable mistake. 2024 elections cannot be business as usual!”
The EC has failed and needs tonnes of introspection ahead of 2024 elections. Too much at stake. Too many boxes to tick ahead of December 2024. pic.twitter.com/rQHsnDMyiB

The Commission rescheduled the District Level Elections in some areas of the Ashanti and Eastern regions from today, Tuesday, December 19, 2023, to Thursday, December 21, 2023.
The Commission in a statement, noted that the rescheduling was prompted by various technical challenges.
Already, the Eastern Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has voiced its dissatisfaction with the EC led by Jean Mensa.
