The Eastern regional Chief Imam Sheikh Alhaji Nurudeen Sulemaana has urged the Ghana police service and the Eastern regional Inspector General of Police to involve the general public in crime-fighting in the region.
According to him, the high rate of murder and Kidnapping cases in the country is absurd and measures must be adopted to curb the menace.
Speaking to Samuel Owusu of Glory FM, Sheikh Sulemaana further stated that the police must come up with telephone numbers where individuals or opinion leaders like Chiefs, Assembly members, pastors and others could reach the police if they should come across any suspect in the vicinity.
“We should all support the police in crime-fighting and every individual must be very vigilant, if anyone should come across someone they suspect to be a criminal, the police must be alerted immediately. The police must also ensure to work hand-in-hand with the general public to eradicate the high rate of crimes being recorded in the region. The police must also make available telephone numbers through which the public can reach them,” he said.
Sheikh Nurudeen also called on the youth to focus on their life rather than seeking to make quick money. He said the many youths don’t appreciate hard work nor education so they end up being arm robbers and Kidnappers.
“I will advise the youth to desist from the love and quest for money and rather take their education seriously. Money rituals are not the way to go because it has its consequences. The youth should stop envying others and rather work hard towards achieving their own,” he added.
He advised the public especially parents to take good care of their Ward’s in everything and monitor their movements as well.
