Inauguration of ‘Napo Ladies to Support NPPs Election Campaign

“Napo Ladies” an emerging women’s group within the NPP in the Wenchi Constituency of the Bono Region has been inaugurated to propagate the Election 2024 manifesto of the party to the voting population in the rural communities.

That would advance the political fortunes and put the NPP on the edge to win the December 7, polls, and thereby achieve the party’s “breaking the eight” mantra in the Presidential and Parliamentary Election.

Mrs Cecelia Awerewaa, the spokesperson said the group had 400 members, and they sought to intensify the electioneering for the NPP not to only regain the parliamentary seat, but also widen the presidential votes too.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the side-lines of the inauguration ceremony held at Wenchi, she said the group comprised loyal members of the NPP and they remained resolute in advancing the cause of the party in the run-up to the General Election.

Mrs Awerewaa indicated that the group was unhappy and worried that the NPP lost the parliamentary seat in the Election 2024, though the constituency remained the “biggest stronghold” of the party in the Bono Region.

“We have therefore resolved to come together as NPP loyal women, identify and tackle the peculiar challenges that confronted the party, and contributed to our defeat in the parliamentary elections in 2020”, she stated.

Mrs Pricilla Adinkrah, another member of the interim executives, indicated that their commitment to intensify the electioneering, reach out to voters at the rural communities and to propagate the achievements of the NPP government to the masses.

She said the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration had performed creditably, and it was therefore imperative for the party to avoid complacency, showcase and tout those achievements in the rural communities in the constituency.

Besides, Mrs Adinkrah said if the voters understood the content of the party manifesto, they could withstand the on-going propaganda being undertaken by political party opponents and thereby make informed decisions and vote for the party in the General Election.

“We will go from house to house and from market to market, market and to canvass more votes for the party to win the parliamentary and presidential polls,” she stated.

Describing the Election 2024 as crucial, Mr Richard Kwadwo Adu, a former Wenchi Constituency Youth Organiser of the NPP and Convener of the group stressed the need for the party to remain formidable and well strategise to regain the constituency seat and win the presidential polls as well.

He therefore called on the party leadership to support the group with the required financial and logistical resources for the women to achieve their vision for the party.

Mr Adu expressed appreciation to some individuals in the party, particularly, Mr Edward Boateng, a former envoy and Nana Akwasi Awuah, the Managing Director of Precious Minerals Marketing Company Ltd (PMMC) for their support to the activities of the group.
