The Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, has assured to refund all Electronic Transfer Levy deductions after April 2, 2025.

This follows directive for all charging entities to halt the deductions, after the Ghana Revenue Authority Secured Gazette Notice for repealing the tax on Wednesday April 2, 2025.

Mr. Sarpong was speaking to Journalists at an ongoing retreat for the top management of GRA in Akosombo.

The assurance from the Commissioner-General is in line with the earlier directive to the charging entities to adjust their systems to suspend charges on all transactions and other taxes that were assented to by President Mahama.

“Indeed, we had a lengthy conversation with the charging entities and we prepared programme of actions to enable them implement the law as soon as it comes into effect. We do know that this is a technological issue so ideally, we have agreed that early morning of 3rd April [202] all charging systems should be taken off and we believe that their working on it”.

“But if for any reason anybody has suffered e-levy in this period, the assurance to every Ghanaian is that we are going to go back to reconcile with all the charging entities to make sure that anybody who has suffered the levy from zero hours of 2nd April will get their refunds duly paid to them”, he assured.
