Farmers’ Laments!!! Surplus Tubers With No Buyers
Farmers at Techiman in the Techiman Municipal district lament the surplus farm produce with buyers. There has been an increasing number of yam tubers at the Techiman market with no buyers. Madam Grace Opoku, the head of market women in Techiman, pleaded with Ghanaians to come and buy their yams. She said this in a video.
She further explained that their tubers are less costly and, with an average price ranging from a hundred cedis to a thousand cedis, one can get some to sell and make profits. She stated that one can get 108 pieces of yam as low as a hundred cedis to sell and gain a profit. She assured buyers of its affordability and the high interest rate they could earn.
She refuted the recent rumours of human parts being sold on the market and stood on the ground of those rumours as total falsehood. She affirmed it with evidence of herself. She continued that she usually leaves the market at around 9pm and hasn’t for once seen any illicit act of such nature happening at the market or in the vicinity. If that’s what has been happening, then she said, they should have been dead by now.
Madam Grace urged the buyers not to panic due to these rumours as they are not true. Rather, make their way to Techiman and trade with them for they have excess yam tubers available at an affordable price. She then explains that they have the white yam tubers and “puna” available, with “puna” being the most popular. Of all the types of yams that a person wants, he or she will get them for the market.
She showed rounded tubers of yam, specifically “puna”, on the ground that as big as they are, they are very affordable as well and are all 100 in number, which some go with the price of four hundred cedis. She assured buyers that yams from Techiman are of high quality due to the fact that they don’t plant them with fertilizers and other chemicals.
Some market women also pleaded for buyers to head to their end to buy quality yams at an affordable price. They urged Ghanaians to forgo the false alarms set by some people to tarnish the name of the vicinity. “Techiman is a neighborhood devoid of violence. We are very hospitable and harmless, so come and trade with us,” they said.
