Some residents living along the Glefe and Shiabu coasts in the Ablekuma West municipality of the Greater Accra Region who have lost their houses to tidal waves say government must extend a sea defence there.
They say extending the sea defence to their community will stop the destruction caused by the tidal waves.
A number of residents within have been rendered homeless as a result of occasional tidal waves.
In 2010 the construction of a 2-kilometre sea defence valued at €41 million started and was completed in 2014.
A visit to the community by myjoyonline revealed that residents are living in danger as tidal waves have destroyed their houses.
Some of the houses are hanging while part of the community is also submerged.
Many of the houses have also developed deep cracks but occupants still trying to fix the damages.
However, residents say their problem has been worsened as a result of the sea defence which was not constructed across their community.
Matilda Dadzie, a resident said they are living in fear since the waves occur during the night.
She said the situation needs immediate attention as anything can happen with the raining season beckoning.
