The bishops highlighted persistent challenges, from the high cost of living to institutionalised corruption, urging the government to take urgent steps for economic stabilisation.
Emphasising the theme of co-responsibility, they called on all Ghanaians to bear their fair share of sacrifice for the well-being of future generations.
Decentralisation, seen as a solution for effective governance, was deemed a mirage, prompting a plea to revisit the election of local leaders.
The environmental toll of illegal mining (galamsey) and concerns about recent regulations were brought to the forefront, urging swift government action.
Acknowledging Parliament’s progress on the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, the bishops called for its expedited passage and presidential assent.
With an eye on the 2024 elections, they cautioned against the politics of religion, stressing the importance of putting Ghana first for the sake of unity.
Expressing sympathy for victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage, the bishops commended relief efforts and urged lessons for better future management.
They condemned conflicts in Nkwanta and Bawku, calling for reconciliation and peace. Denouncing military brutalities, they appealed for a more professional approach to restore security.
The bishops invoked divine intervention for the growth of the church and the nation, quoting St. Paul’s exhortation.
