BetPawa, a leading online betting company, has announced a $10 million initiative to promote sports development across Africa, starting with Ghana.

This five-year commitment aims to revolutionize sports sponsorship through programs designed to empower male and female athletes, improve football infrastructure, and support community development.

BetPawa’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ntoudi Mouyelo Katoula, unveiled the ambitious plan at a media briefing in Accra, emphasizing the company’s dedication to African sports.

The “Locker Room Bonus,” a standout feature of the initiative, will offer equal pay to male and female football players, providing a 400 GHS bonus to every player on the winning team immediately after each victory. This program, starting with female teams in Ghana’s FA Cup, represents a bold step towards gender parity in sports sponsorship.

“We’re investing equally in both men’s and women’s leagues,” Katoula said. “Every player on a winning squad will receive 400 GHS before they leave the locker room. It’s our commitment to fairness, showing that all athletes deserve equal recognition.”

BetPawa’s focus extends beyond player incentives; the company has also pledged to improve Ghana’s football infrastructure. A major component is constructing new stadium seating at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, creating a high-caliber venue for local athletes and fans.

This upgrade demonstrates BetPawa’s commitment to elevating Ghanaian sports facilities to meet international standards.

“By investing in infrastructure, we’re helping to shape the future of football in Ghana,” Katoula explained. “Our goal is to inspire athletes and fans alike by building spaces that foster community and enthusiasm for the sport.”

BetPawa is also committed to responsible gaming. Partnering with the Gaming Commission, the company has established Ghana’s first nationwide call center for problem gambling support.

This center, a crucial part of BetPawa’s ethical practices, offers counseling and resources to individuals facing gambling-related challenges. The initiative recently earned BetPawa the Responsible Gaming Initiative Award at the Gaming and Lottery Awards, underscoring its commitment to player welfare.

Beyond sports and gaming, BetPawa’s “Win Big, Give Back” campaign drives community outreach. This initiative funds social projects such as supplying medical equipment, educational materials, and farming tools to underserved communities. “Our involvement goes beyond sports,” Katoula stated.

“We’re partners in the development of the communities we operate in, and we aim to create a lasting positive impact where it’s needed most.”

BetPawa also announced its sponsorship of Ghana’s Football End-of-Season Awards, which celebrates journalists and media professionals dedicated to covering local sports.

“The media plays a vital role in sharing the stories of our athletes and the impact of our work,” Katoula said. “Our support for the End-of-Season Awards reflects our gratitude to the storytellers who bring Ghanaian sports culture to life.”

With a presence now spanning 18 African countries, BetPawa is expanding its impact on the continent’s sports scene, with Ghana as a pilot market for programs like the Locker Room Bonus.

“From rewarding players to building infrastructure and advocating responsible gaming, we’re committed to transforming African sports,” Katoula stated.

This holistic approach reflects BetPawa’s vision to elevate African sports, establishing a new standard for corporate social responsibility.

As BetPawa’s initiatives take root, the company is setting a benchmark in sports sponsorship, investing in athletes, infrastructure, responsible gaming, and community empowerment across Africa. “Ghana is a priority, and we’re here to build a legacy,” Katoula concluded, highlighting BetPawa’s dedication to long-lasting, meaningful change in the region.
