Ghanaian journalist and pollster, Benjamin Emmanuel Ephson, (Ben Ephson) has said that the President and the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party, NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo would exceed the 52% projection should all members of the NPP in Accra turn out to vote.
He made this assertion in an interview on Anopa Bofo with Captain Smart on Angel Fm this morning, Friday, 4th December 2020.
Mr. Ben Ephson, who also doubles as the Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, further explained, that for a party to win the general elections, that party needs to win the Brong Ahafo Region which is the ‘ground child’ of the other 3 major swing regions namely, Greater Accra, Central and Western Regions.
He again expressed how surprised he was with the comment he received from some people to express worries why his prediction went wrong in 2016 as they were just predictions and according to him, most politicians loves to do a last-minute campaign hoping to win but it could backfire unless it is ‘Gargantuan’.

According to him, In 2014, former President Kuffour won with 51.5% in the 1st round with a margin of 7000 votes. NDC had 51.4% of the total vote cast whilst NPP had 47.3%. Nana Addo won massively in 2016 with 53.8%.

In the Northern Region, which is perceived to be the stronghold of the NDC, they had 58% of the cast votes whiles NPP had 39.1% in 2012. In 2016, NDC dropped from 58% to 55.6% and NPP increased from 39.1% to 41%.
For the NDC to win the 2020 General elections, they are expected, per his predictions to be the aim at getting about 30-32% of votes in the Ashanti Region, 40-42% in the Eastern Region, and have the highest votes in the Greater Accra Region.
The NPP on the other hand is expected to get about 75% in the Ashanti Region, 63% in the Eastern Region, and win in the Greater Accra Region to win the elections.
