Africans Rising Hosts 2nd All-African Movement Assembly in Accra
Africans Rising is hosting the 2nd edition of the All-African Movement Assembly from August 29-31 in Accra, Ghana. This significant event, recognized as the largest Pan-African gathering of activists and human rights defenders, will convene 400 participants, including social justice advocates, representatives from each African country, and members of the diaspora. The assembly will focus on key issues such as Borderless Africa, Climate Justice, Gender Justice, Economic Justice, Ethical Governance, Civic Space Expansion, and Reparations. This platform provides an opportunity to collectively address the crises impacting the continent and develop a unified framework for action.
The assembly, which builds on the first edition held in 2022, aims to bring together voices from across Africa and the diaspora. Participants will have the chance to connect, converse, and strategize on the pressing issues facing the continent today. The discussions will focus on creating a holistic and collective approach to dealing with these matters in solidarity.
One of the highlights of the event will be the Activism Awards Ceremony/Gala Night, where the 2023 and 2024 award winners will be honored. This ceremony will take place during the closing event and is expected to be a memorable celebration of the efforts and achievements of activists across the continent.
Africans Rising is also excited to announce the launch of the Pan-African Journalists Network during the assembly. This initiative aims to unite journalists from across Africa and the diaspora to enhance coverage and reporting on issues affecting the continent, such as climate change, governance, water justice, economic justice, gender justice, civic space, reparations, and humanitarian issues.
“We are excited to bring together such a diverse group of activists and human rights defenders for this crucial assembly,” said Ann Lorna, a representative of Africans Rising. “This is a unique opportunity to formulate strategies that will address the complex challenges we face as a continent and to celebrate the incredible work being done by our activists.”
