The Electoral Commission (EC) has began the replacement of Voter ID cards for persons who have lost or defaced their cards ahead of the 2024 general elections.
According to a statement issued by the Commission, the exercise will begin from today, Tuesday, 3 October 2023 and end on Monday, 9 October, 2023.
The Head of Public Relations Affairs, Michael Boadu, who signed the statement sighted by JoyNews indicated that an online payment portal has been introduced to aid with the exercise.

The statement further indicated that an SMS will be sent to applicants upon the successful completion of the transaction.
“This notification is to be presented at the point of payment,” it added.
Meanwhile, the EC says it will not extend the 21-day limited voter registration exercise that ended on Monday, 2 October 2023.
Instead, the Electoral Commission says it will only register eligible Ghanaians who were in the queue on or before 5:00pm during the last day of the exercise.
This exercise will take place on Tuesday, the 3rd of October, 2023.
