Yunyoo, Chereponi constituencies declare support for Dr Bawumia

The Yunyoo and Chereponi constituencies in the North East Region have joined other constituencies in the region in assuring former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, of their unflinching support, effectively urging him not to go through the rigours of campaigning to them.

Dr Bawumia, who is in the North East Region as part of his national campaign tour, has enjoyed what party supporters describe as a “walkover” in several constituencies, as he has been unable to deliver his usual hour-long campaign message in places such as Walewale and Yagaba-Kubori, where NPP members pleaded with him not to “waste time” campaigning to them.

On Tuesday, a similar scene played out in the Yunyoo and Chereponi constituencies, where NPP delegates prevented Dr Bawumia from campaigning, insisting that their minds were already made up to give him a resounding 100 per cent victory in January’s presidential primaries.

As was the case in Walewale the previous day, enthusiastic delegates in both constituencies welcomed the former Vice President warmly but declined to allow him to address or campaign to them, saying they were already convinced of his candidature.

Speakers in Yunyoo and Chereponi eulogised Dr Bawumia’s contributions to the NPP and highlighted his experience, describing him as the most marketed and best-prepared candidate to lead the party to victory in the 2028 general elections.

To demonstrate their support, all electoral area coordinators in the two constituencies publicly declared their backing for Dr Bawumia, which they said reflected the collective will of their entire constituencies.

In response, Dr Bawumia expressed profound gratitude to the delegates and party members for their confidence and overwhelming show of support.

Dr Bawumia has so far visited about 12 regions as part of his campaign tour and has received widespread declarations of support from NPP delegates across the country.

The NPP is scheduled to go to the polls on January 31 to elect its presidential flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
