Mali coach Tom Saintfiet is determined to “write history” with victory over Ghana in a competitive match for the first time in 12 years.
The Black Stars entertain their counterparts at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8, in the 2025 World Cup qualifiers.
Otto Addo’s side had secured a 2-1 victory in Bamako in July 2024, prior to the appointment of Saintfiet.
“Ghana is a top team in Africa. They are number one in our group, four points ahead of us, so it will be a tough match, but we are here to write history,” he said.
“We want to win here. We are here to try and make miracles come true.
“We are here to play with confidence and try to surprise the 40,000 people in the stadium.”
Ghana sit at the summit of Group I with 16 points, ahead of fourth-placed Mali.
