Faith Ladies have made history by securing their first-ever Women’s FA Cup final berth, pulling off a stunning 1-0 victory over tournament favorites Hasaacas Ladies at the McDan Sports Complex.

The upset marks a turning point for the club, which had previously fallen short of reaching the championship match for four consecutive seasons.

The decisive moment came in the 69th minute when Dorcas Okyere found the back of the net, sealing a hard-fought victory and sending Faith Ladies into uncharted territory. The celebration was euphoric as the team, known for its resilience, finally broke through the barrier that had held them back in previous campaigns.

Hasaacas Ladies, one of the most dominant teams in Ghanaian women’s football, were expected to advance comfortably. However, Faith Ladies had other plans, displaying a defensive masterclass and capitalizing on their crucial opportunity to edge past the favorites.

In the other semi-final clash, Jonina Ladies asserted their dominance with a commanding 4-1 victory over Rootz Sistaz. Matilda Bless Fodu set the tone early with a brace before halftime, while Joyce Atimbila added two more in the second half to complete an emphatic win. With this performance, Jonina Ladies head into the final full of confidence and momentum.

Beyond the action on the pitch, discussions have arisen over the potential influence of betPawa’s Locker Room Bonus, which has been credited with boosting motivation among players. The initiative, aimed at providing financial incentives for teams, has been highlighted as a step towards professionalizing women’s football in Ghana.

Ghana Football Association President Kurt Simeon-Okraku has acknowledged the impact of betPawa’s support, stating:
“The locker room bonus has been impactful, especially in the lives of the footballers. It is making footballers switch from being participants to being winners on the pitch.”

With the final now set between Faith Ladies and Jonina Ladies, anticipation is at an all-time high. Both teams have defied expectations to reach this stage, and with history on the line, the showdown promises to be a landmark moment for women’s football in Ghana.

As the countdown begins to crown the new queens of the Women’s FA Cup, one thing is clear—women’s football is evolving, and initiatives like betPawa’s Locker Room Bonus are playing a role in shaping its future.
