Since January 2022, the Ghanaian cedi has faced significant depreciation, directly impacting prices and consumer purchasing power:
- December 2021: ₵6.50 = $1
- September 2022: ₵12.70 = $1
- 2023: Stabilized near ₵12.00 = $1
- 2024: Sharp decline to ₵16.40 = $1 by September
But now, there’s great news:
Since April 20, 2025, the cedi has staged a remarkable recovery, reaching ₵13.30 = $1 by May 9, 2025. Bloomberg recently declared on May 8, 2025, that the cedi was the “best-performing currency in the world, «appreciating by 16% against the dollar.
Standing with Ghanaian Consumers
For over three years, rising costs have strained households and businesses. Now, with the cedi’s strong rebound, we believe it’s only right to pass on the benefits to you, our valued customers.
