He assured the university of his unwavering commitment to tackling its challenges, particularly those affecting the Akatakyei campus, where illegal mining activities continue to pose significant challenges.

“I’m well aware of the challenges faced by your Akatakyei campus, particularly the issue of galamsey activities in the area. We’ve received a letter regarding this matter, and it has been a topic of discussion in our efforts to find a solution. I want to assure you that the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) will fully support your institution’s endeavours, as we recognise the valuable contributions you make.”

While reiterating his open-door policy, Mr Nelson reaffirmed his unwavering support for Takoradi Technical University’s progress, assuring them of a collaborative and productive relationship between the university and his administration.

“I’m committed to supporting the valuable work you’re doing. As the Regional Minister, I assure you that the Regional Coordinating Council and I are dedicated to helping you succeed. If you encounter any challenges or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly – my doors are always open”.

“The advancement of Takoradi Technical University is deeply intertwined with the growth and development of the Western Region. I’m committed to supporting TTU’s endeavours, and I’m confident that together, we can drive meaningful progress.”

“Rest assured that you have my full backing, whether it’s related to infrastructure development, innovative initiatives, or any other project that will bring benefits and propel the region forward.”

Western Regional Minister

For his part, the Vice Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University, Rev Prof. John Frank Eshun, highlighted the university’s core mandate during the visit.

He emphasised TTU’s commitment to driving capacity building, research, and regional development, which are pivotal to the university’s mission.

As outlined in TTU’s vision and mission statements, the university aims to provide technical education, training, research, and consultancy services to students and stakeholders, ultimately contributing to national and global development, he said

“Our mandate extends to developing the region through capacity building, research, and other key areas. Now that you’ve assumed office, I believe it’s essential we collaborate to drive growth in various sectors, including tourism development and exploring new business opportunities. By working together, we can unlock the region’s full potential and create lasting impact,” he emphasised.

The institution has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the Minister’s office to boost key sectors, including tourism, business, and infrastructure development.

This partnership aims to drive economic growth, create jobs, and improve the overall quality of life in the region.

“We have research directorates and other offices that I believe we can work with to help develop the region,” he added.
