The Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Haruna Mohammed, has expressed deep shock at the passing of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing the news as unbelievable.
Speaking in an interview on Joy FM’s Top Story on Thursday, October 23, Mr. Haruna said members of the NPP were struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss, especially given her recent public appearances and active engagements.
“We in the NPP are in a state of disbelief. We have been on national programmes with the former First Lady, who has just passed today. The most recent was the Asantehemaa’s funeral and another event we attended together, where we had very good interactions with her. Nothing showed that she was unwell or that she was going to leave us so soon,” he said.
Mr. Mohammed described Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings as a towering national figure who contributed immensely to Ghana’s democratic and social development.
“But who are we to question the will of God? God has decided to call her back, and we, as humans, can only accept His will.”
The former First Lady died on Thursday, October 23, at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital).
