‘Wellness is wealth’ – Sports Minister champions business and health at Madina Chamber launch

The launch of the Madina Chamber of Commerce was more than an economic milestone, it became a call to action for young people and women entrepreneurs to combine business growth with healthy living.

Minister for Sports and Recreation, Iddi Kofi Adams, delivered an impassioned speech reminding citizens that true prosperity comes when wealth and wellness walk hand in hand.

“Every activity we are doing now is about teaching you that as you develop your business, add physical exercise to it,” Adams told the gathering, stressing that health is the foundation of sustainable success.

He praised former President John Dramani Mahama for keeping his promise to streamline government from 126 ministries to 60, while still prioritizing sports and recreation.

“Even while reducing government, President Mahama split the Youth and Sports Ministry into two, creating a dedicated Youth Ministry and a Sports and Recreation Ministry. That tells you the importance he attaches to your well-being and to sports development,” Adams explained.

He also described the Chief of Staff’s presence at the event as a sign of national commitment, encouraging the people of Madina to carry the initiative forward.

“Tomorrow the Chief of Staff may not be here, but continue the things he initiated today. Walk with Sosu, walk with Faila, or walk even without them. That is the spirit we must carry,” he urged.

The Minister pledged that the message of business and wellness will spread across all 261 districts and 275 constituencies of Ghana.

“We want every single person not just to do well in business, but also to be active and strong, so that the money you make is not spent on medication. You cannot be wealthy if you are making money and you are sick,” he declared.

Adams also applauded Francis-Xavier Sosu, MP for Madina, for his commitment to empowering small businesses, especially those led by women and youth.

“We salute the steps you have taken to highlight areas of talent and enterprise. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and young people and women must lead this charge,” he said.

The event, marked by both policy focus and community spirit, highlighted Madina’s growing role in linking enterprise with well-being.
