The legal team representing former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has indicated its intention to pursue alternative legal avenues.
This comes after the High Court dismissed an application challenging an arrest warrant issued by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Delivering its ruling on Thursday, July 31, the court found that Mr Ofori-Atta’s application lacked sufficient merit, thereby allowing the warrant and associated legal actions to remain in force.
The ruling comes amid ongoing investigations by the OSP into alleged corruption and procurement infractions during Mr Ofori-Atta’s time in office.
Speaking to Citi FM following the judgment, legal counsel Frank Davies stated that the legal team would carefully assess its next course of action.
“The High Court has delivered its ruling, and we will explore the next steps available to us. There are avenues open to every lawyer, and we’ll consider them carefully,” he remarked.
Mr Ofori-Atta had contended that the OSP acted unlawfully in securing the arrest warrant, arguing that due process had not been followed.
However, the court disagreed, siding with the Special Prosecutor and affirming the legality of the warrant.
The former minister, who has not yet appeared before the OSP, is reportedly undergoing medical treatment abroad.
In June, the anti-corruption agency declared him a wanted individual and initiated collaboration with Interpol to aid in his apprehension.
