President John Mahama has reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the effective and transparent use of public funds, with a focus on robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), the president stressed that the government would ensure all funds allocated for development projects are used efficiently and in the best interest of the people.

“My government is committed to instituting robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure that fund allocations are used effectively and transparently,” he stated on Tuesday, March 25.

He highlighted that the core objective of his administration is to ensure that taxpayers’ money is used efficiently and transparently for the betterment of the people.

“Our objective is to ensure that every cedi is accounted for and directed towards projects that improve the lives of our citizens,” he said.

He highlighted the importance of collaboration with parliament, civil society, and local stakeholders to enhance oversight, eliminate inefficiencies, and promote best practices in fund management.

President Mahama emphasised that the government would work closely with all relevant bodies to ensure funds are used as intended and deliver tangible benefits to communities across the country.

“We will not tolerate waste or mismanagement,” he added. “Our focus is on delivering results that directly impact the lives of Ghanaians and contribute to sustainable development.”

The initiative aims to ensure that the nation’s development funds are channeled into projects that have a lasting, positive impact on the lives of the citizens.

Parliament approved Michael Harry Yamson as the administrator of DACF on March 21.

His appointment was confirmed following a unanimous recommendation by the Appointments Committee, which cited his competence, extensive expertise, and ability to manage the responsibilities associated with the role.
