Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of Asante Kotoko, Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, bared his teeth at the Ghana Football Association, when a delegation from the country’s football governing body paid a courtesy call on the club.

In a no holds barred speech, Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, the Asantehene’s Nkontomponiaferehene, chided the GFA for not respecting the club.

”It would have been nice if GHALCA had come here for this meeting earlier before the IGP even did. For the GFA, we know they don’t value us but we will force you to respect us whether you like it or not. We will show you we are Kotoko and Hearts.”

Nana Apinkra’s comments reflect the club’s disappointment with the hierarchy of the GFA, for not visiting the club earlier, following the demise of Francis ”Nana Pooley” Frimpong, a fan of the club who was brutally stabbed during a league match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman F.C.

On Monday, Kotoko and Hearts of Oak submitted a joint proposal to the GFA, suggesting immediate reforms to the security protocols in the league, automatic slots on the GFA’s Executive Council, reviewing the current broadcast rights revenue distribution formula and others.

Speaking on behalf of the club at Thursday’s meeting, Nana Apinkrah told the GFA delegation led by General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, that ”what we seek is for the security measures and our requests to be addressed before we can resume the league.”

”We can’t say we won’t play the league again. We will play, but only if the security measures are put in place. We will make sure we go all lengths to ensure this.”

Meanwhile, the prosecution team has withdrawn the case against the four persons brought before the Fiapre Circuit Court in connection with the stabbing death of Francis Yaw Frimpong [Nana Pooley], to be refiled at the Sunyani District Court.

Isaac Fosu, 28; Yeboah Augustine, 35; Elizabeth Akosua Ntiwa (Akosua Black Chinese), 37; and Yaa Asantewaa, 37, were charged with abetment of crime to wit; murder, contrary to Sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offences Act of 1960 (Act 29).

Two others, Briamah (Rasta) and Yaw Koshy, are still at large and face the same charges, with Briamah facing an additional murder charge , contrary to Section 46 of the Criminal Offences Act of 1960 (Act 29).
