Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has affirmed that the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will play a vital role in supporting the country’s 24-hour economy through its operations.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the Armed Forces Council on Monday, March 24, at the Defence Ministry, Professor Opoku-Agyemang, Chairperson of the Council, assured the President that the GAF’s role extends beyond national security.
She stressed that the Armed Forces will contribute significantly to ensuring that the nation’s economic activities continue to run smoothly around the clock.
“We want to assure our President that the GAF will continue to use methods that are humane, effective, and inclusive of modern technology, in whatever form, to enhance the operational efficiency of the forces,” she said.
She also expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the GAF and reiterated the military’s commitment to fulfilling the mandate entrusted to them.
“We want to thank you, and we want to assure you that we will carry out the mandate you have reposed in us, and we will continue to engage in dialogue with you, whenever necessary,” she added.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang assured President Mahama that the GAF will remain an integral part of Ghana’s 24-hour economy, ensuring its continued effectiveness in supporting the nation’s economic growth.
