The Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) has clarified that it is not involved in the ongoing industrial action by some workers of the Ghana Railway Company Limited (GRCL).
According to the Authority, while both agencies operate in the railway sector, it stated that both entities are distinct with different legal responsibilities.
In a statement signed by Dr Frederick Appoh, the acting Chief Executive Officer, the GRDA assured that its operations remain unaffected by the strike.
“We wish to assure the public that the GRDA remains fully operational and has not initiated or endorsed any form of public demonstration on any issue.
“We are, indeed, focused on final preparations for the operationalisation of the newly constructed 97-kilometre Tema-Mpakadan Railway Line, supported by two new trains the government has procured,” part of the statement read.
The GRDA called on the public to distinguish between its role and that of the GRCL.
“We encourage the public to distinguish between the two institutions and note that the planned strike by the GRCL does not impact the GRDA or our activities.
“Our staff remain dedicated to advancing key projects and delivering efficient railway infrastructure for national development.”
The authority concluded by thanking the public for its continued support and reiterated its focus on national development through improved railway systems.
