We haven’t requested a state burial yet, but… – Daddy Lumba’s family

The family of the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has dismissed widespread claims that it has officially requested a state burial for the iconic musician.

In a statement expressing gratitude, the family thanked Ghanaians for the immense show of love and support following the musician’s passing.

While admitting that a state burial would indeed be an honour, the family clarified that no formal decision has been taken yet and emphasised the importance of thorough consultations among relatives before such a move is considered.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Kasiebo is Tasty, Ekuona Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu Boahene of Parkoso-Nsuta Kuo urged the public to disregard the circulating reports, describing them as “fake.”

“We have not formally requested a state burial,” he stated. “The family is still in the process of deliberating and will, at the appropriate time, engage President John Mahama, who has already offered his condolences and promised support for a befitting funeral.”
