University of Gold Coast Chancellor, Bishop Dr. Gideon Titi-Ofei

University of Gold Coast Chancellor, Bishop Dr. Gideon Titi-Ofei, has called on the government to adopt a long-term national development plan and implement bold reforms in the education system.

He cautioned that the country cannot continue relying on political party manifestos as a substitute for a unified national agenda.

Speaking at the Executive at 40 Conclave, Bishop Titi-Ofei described Ghana’s infrastructure as “broken” and called for leaders who can rise to the challenge of rebuilding the nation.

“We are building the country on party manifestos but not a national plan, and we need to change that,” he said, stressing that political parties must be held accountable when they fail to address the concerns of citizens.

On education, he demanded a comprehensive reform to shift the focus from certification to nation-building.

According to him, Ghana’s education system must be reoriented to equip young people with the skills and mindset to become drivers of development.

“Our education system must be reoriented to train the youth who will build the nation,” Bishop Titi-Ofei emphasised.

The Executive at 40 Conclave convened leaders and professionals to deliberate on the future of governance, leadership, and nation-building, with Bishop Titi-Ofei’s remarks resonating as a strong call for change.
