The Communications Director of the 2024 Bawumia campaign, Dennis Miracle Aboagye, says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is undergoing a restructuring process aimed at strengthening the party for the future.

Speaking on Joy News’ AM Show, Mr Aboagye explained that the party is currently in a phase of rebuilding. He highlighted that as part of this process, there are certain actions that need to be taken, as well as others that should be avoided.

One key aspect he stressed is that internal party issues should not be discussed in the public domain, particularly in the way some individuals have done.

“We’ve engaged with those involved and reminded them that, yes, you may have slipped, but for now, we need to hold our horses. And I believe that’s the approach everyone should take,” he said.

He further acknowledged that the NPPP is a large organisation and that occasional setbacks are inevitable.

“It’s fine for that to happen,” he said. “From time to time, people will slip, and that’s okay. What’s important is that we learn and move forward.”

He also questioned the value of discussing internal matters publicly, especially when it comes to their campaign and the party’s progress.

“Why should we be discussing what happened within our party or how our campaign went on television?” He asked. “How does that benefit the viewer?

“The viewer doesn’t care about that. The viewers are more interested in the alternatives we are offering as a political party, whether it’s in addressing economic issues, healthcare, or education.”

Mr Aboagye reiterated that the party’s focus should be on offering tangible solutions to the nation’s pressing challenges rather than engaging in public disputes.

“At the end of the day, the public wants to know what alternatives we can bring to the table to address the issues they face, not the internal struggles of the party,” he said.

As part of the rebuilding process, he urged party members to be patient and supportive of the ongoing restructuring process, adding, “Hold your horses for now,” as we continue to work on rebuilding the NPP and preparing for its future successes.
