Ghana’s U-17 team, the Black Starlets, are gearing up for a decisive Group A clash against hosts Ivory Coast at the WAFU Zone B U-17 Boys Championship in Yamoussoukro.
After being held to a 1-1 draw by Togo in their opening match, the Starlets know victory is key to boosting their chances of reaching the knockout stage.
Head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has stressed the need for sharper finishing in front of goal,
“Creating the chance is not the problem. It’s about conversion and because of that we had a full session on goal scoring in our last training session,” he said.
Dr. Ogum added that the team has been recreating in-game situations to sharpen their decision-making in front of goal.
“Some of the situations that happened in the game were recreated and we worked on the finishing in our last training session. The conversion was good at training and I’m sure our conversion against Ivory Coast will be better,” he added.
Kickoff is set for 6pm local time.
